These sterling silver cufflinks have a Luckenbooth interlocking heart design. The Luckenbooth is a traditional design which dates back to the 16th century and is named after the locked booths used by silversmiths and goldsmiths to sell wares outside St Giles Cathedral on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh. They were usually given as a token of love, much as an engagement ring is today and often used as a talisman to ward off evil.
