SCOTTISH THISTLE JEWELLERY
The Scottish thistle - often referred to as ‘the flower of Scotland’ - is perhaps Scotland’s most enduring symbol, having been the national emblem of Scotland since the reign of Alexander III in 1249-1286. Legend has it that an ambush upon sleeping Scots warriors by invading Norsemen went awry when the would-be raiders stood on the prickly flower with the resulting screams awaking the Scottish warriors from their slumber who then defeated the Norseman.
