Sterling silver ring made in the Hebridean Islands of Scotland and hallmarked in the Edinburgh Assay Office. 

The legend of the Scottish Thistle or 'guardian of Scotland' is that the thorny plant saved the Scots from attack by Viking raiders when a surprise night attack was foiled as a raider stood on the plant and cried out in pain. The Scots army were alerted, and the raiders were defeated.
