One of a Kind Bespoke Scottish Edinburgh Castle Celtic Knot work Thistle Ring with Diamond and Amethyst
Our customer was looking for a very special birthday gift for his wife, they both love Scotland. He was also very keen to find a Scottish Designer and for the ring to be designed and handmade in Edinburgh Scotland. His final request was for the design to be unique and one of a kind.
He loved our Edinburgh Castle Wedding and Engagement Ring ranges and requested a customization on the design. He also loved our Thistle designs - set with Amethysts and our original Celtic knot work prints, therefore we blended all three designs together.
The final design was a highly unique Bespoke Ring, blending Edinburgh Castle, Thistle Heads (set with Amethysts), Celtic knot work with a stunning quarter carat Diamond in the center.
The design took a few months to create, blending all the elements together, we corresponded via e-mail throughout the entire design process.
Design Challenges
The only challenge that came up was fitting the entire design into such a small finger size (i.5).
We were able to overcome this challenge by making the ring slightly wider and building the design features chunkier.
Materials
We cast the ring an 18 carat Yellow Gold and set it with one GSi1 White Diamond and two Amethysts on either side of the Diamond.
Hallmarking
We hallmarked the design at the Edinburgh Assay Office with all our details inside the ring, this included the metal mark, our sponsor mark, the castle logo, the year the design was produced – Z- for 2024 and finally, the crown mark for gold.
Final Touches
We engraved the inside of the ring with a special engraving and included a special note written by the designer (myself). Our customer wanted to add as many special touches as possible, due to this being such an important and significant ring for him to gift his wife.
Finally
Our customer was over the moon with the final design. He was unsure about size, thank goodness it fit perfectly!
It is interesting to see many designs blended into one unique Bespoke Ring. This process lends itself to creating a truly unique one of a kind original design. We loved creating it.
This is definitely one of the most creative designs I have produced. It was wonderful to work in collaboration with our customer. He had a definite idea about what he wanted, and I think we created the perfect ring.
